To the Presidium and delegates of the 26th Congress of the
Communist Workers’ Party – For Peace and Socialism (Finland)
Dear comrades,
The Central Committee and the Political Bureau of the Communist Front, expressing the will and voice of our entire Party, send you a fraternal greeting on the occasion of your 26th Congress.
Today, the proletariat and the popular strata of all continents are going through a historical phase when the crisis of capitalism is openly degenerating into imperialist war, with an escalating military conflict that involves more and more regions, from Ukraine to the Middle East, from the Indo-Pakistani border to vast African areas, up to the Indo-Pacific region and the Korean peninsula. Even when the proletarians are not sent to fight and die on the fronts of war for the interests of their exploiters, they are still subjected to a constant worsening of their material and spiritual lives. Already low wages are eroded by inflation; healthcare, education, and public services are dismantled; social spending is cut. The EU and the warmongering gang that rules it have decided to divert enormous resources from fulfilling the real needs of the proletariat to rearmament, to the exclusive benefit of the military industry monopolies. Every attempt to resist these plans faces repression and police control, even preemptively.
The war in Ukraine and the conflict between capitalist Russia and the USA-EU-NATO imperialist bloc—with all its internal contradictions among allies—fuels the arms race and the militarization not only of the economy but of society as a whole. The war economy will generate enormous profits for the military-industrial monopolies, simultaneously worsening the exploitation of the working class and causing further impoverishment of the popular masses. Furthermore, the imposition of these anti-popular policies in the EU and beyond goes with a reactionary and authoritarian regression of the bourgeois state dangerously similar to fascism. Political and labor union rights of the working class are severely limited or even suppressed, along with the very formal freedoms of bourgeois democracy.
The international situation is marked by increasing competition between imperialist countries for supremacy within the world capitalist system and by a tendency toward polarization into blocs centered around a hegemonic power. The growing competition between imperialist powers and blocs, with the increasing use of arms as a tool to resolve disputes, heightens the risk of generalized war and direct confrontation between nuclear powers, with catastrophic consequences for humanity and the planet. The so-called “multipolar world,” supported by Russia and China as an alternative to the US hegemony and, in a subordinate position, the EU, does not represent a solution for peace and cooperation among peoples, but only the claim for a reshuffling of imperialist dominance in favor of emerging powers. Supporting one or the other competing bloc does not mean fighting against imperialism or fascism, but subordinating the working class to the interests of its exploiters. Arms should not be used to kill proletarians from other countries but to strike at the class enemy.
These days we are witnessing the intensification of the criminal genocidal offensive carried out by the fascist and Zionist Israeli state against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, with the full complicity of the United States and the European Union, who are co-responsible for the genocide. Behind this complicity there are cynical concrete interests of US and EU capitalism, seeking to exploit this area’s energy resources and, more generally, to benefit from the strategic location of the Middle East, a crossroads of trade, energy, and communication routes. The risk that the conflict may involve additional powers, regional or global, is very high. We openly denounce the war crimes committed by Israel and the responsibility of the USA, the EU and its member-states’ governments, reaffirming our unconditional solidarity with the Palestinian resistance, which has the right to fight against the Israeli occupier by any means until complete liberation.
Today, the Finnish working class and your Party are directly experiencing the effects of your country’s entry into NATO, an imperialist alliance whose warmongering and reactionary character is certified by the aggressive wars it has unleashed in its 76 years of existence and its continuous eastward expansion with hostile aims toward Russia. With NATO membership, Finland also faces an increase in military spending, inevitably at the expense of the material conditions of the working class. In response to this offensive, we put forward a clear and firm slogan: the struggle for the unilateral withdrawal of our countries from NATO and the EU, imperialist institutions that are making rearmament and war their strategic axis and anti-communism their supporting ideology.
Comrades, capitalism is in its terminal stage, the stage of of imperialism and proletarian revolution. The objective conditions for launching a revolutionary process already exist, but the subjective conditions still need to be built. That means, the Communist Party must strengthen and be firm in Marxist-Leninist principles, ideologically autonomous and impenetrable to bourgeois ideology, rooted in the working class, ready to face any situation with any means it may require. Only in this way can we counter imperialism and fascism, opportunism and revisionism. Only in this way can we lead the working class and the popular strata to overthrow capitalism and the bourgeois state to build socialist-communist society.
For the development of revolutionary activity, it is essential to strengthen cooperation and coordination between sister parties. Proletarian internationalism should not be limited to declarations of solidarity, but must be actualized in theoretical elaborations and shared strategies that give rise to common and coordinated campaigns, initiatives, and actions. Like you, we dedicate our energies to achieving these goals. Together with your Party, we were among the founders of the European Communist Action. Together with yours and the other sister parties that are part of it, we strive to contribute militantly to the success of our ideals in our respective countries, in Europe, and in the world. Therefore, wishing for ever-closer ties between our parties, we hope that the 26th Congress will bring fruitful results and new successes, strengthening our common struggle for proletarian emancipation and the construction of the socialist-communist society.
Long live socialism-communism!
Proletarians of the world, unite!
