To the Presidium and the Delegates of the 39th Congress of the Communist Party of Sweden
Dear comrades,
The Central Committee and the Political Bureau of the CC of the Communist Front, on behalf of our entire Party, send a warm and fraternal greeting on the occasion of your 39th Congress.
Your congress takes place in a situation of rapid and dramatic deterioration in the conditions of the working class and the popular strata worldwide. The capitalist crisis makes imperialist war spread in various parts of the world: in Ukraine, the Middle East, the border between India and Pakistan, and Africa. Dangerous tensions are also emerging in the Indo-Pacific area and the Korean Peninsula. Even when proletarians are not sent to be slaughtered at the frontline, they are socially massacred by wage levels insufficient to cope with inflation, by cuts in social spending and essential services, implemented to fund generalized rearmament. When they oppose this worsening of their conditions, they are subjected to preventive control measures and repression.
The arms race throughout the EU, fueled by the war in Ukraine between the US-EU-NATO imperialist bloc and capitalist Russia, entails a real militarization of society and production. The war economy will guarantee enormous profits to military industry monopolies, intensify proletarian exploitation, and cause further impoverishment. The intensification of competition among capitalist powers and the consequent imperialist war lead to a remodulation of alliances, with a tendency toward polarization into competing blocs, within which contradictions and rivalries among allies themselves also emerge.
Your Party and the Swedish working class are experiencing firsthand the expansion of NATO, an aggressive and warmongering imperialist, anti-communist and anti-popular alliance, the armed wing of Euro-Atlantic capitalism. Sweden’s entry into NATO, which bumps off its traditional -albeit purely formal and not substantial- neutrality will have serious consequences on the living conditions of the Swedish proletariat due to the significant increase in military spending to the detriment of the real needs of the people. In the face of this, the only path that we communists all have before us is the struggle for the unilateral exit of our countries from NATO and the EU, which has made rearmament a strategic goal in the illusion of inflicting a military defeat on Russia and has made anti-communism the ideological support for its warmongering and anti-popular policies.
In recent months, we have also witnessed the escalation of genocidal violence by the Israeli occupying army against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The fascist and Zionist Israeli state takes advantage of the complicity, primarily but not only, of the United States and the EU, interested in the plundering of natural resources in the Palestinian EEZ off the coast of Gaza and, more generally, throughout the Middle East, which is also a natural crossroads of trade routes, gas pipelines, electrical and communication networks. The risk of the conflict widening with the involvement of other regional and global powers is very high. We denounce Israeli war crimes, the complicity of our governments and the EU in the massacre of the Palestinian, Syrian, and Lebanese people, and we reaffirm our solidarity with the resistance of the Palestinian people and their right to fight in every way and by any means until liberation.
In this scenario of rivalry for supremacy in the international imperialist system and widespread war, the risk of a direct clash between nuclear powers with devastating effects for all humanity and the planet is growing. The ‘multipolar world’ – the ideological banner of Russian and Chinese foreign policy – already represents a reality that, far from being a factor of stability and peaceful development, hides the claim for a new division of the world among imperialist powers. We therefore reject the concept of subordinating the interests of the working class to those of the lords of the ‘multipolar world,’ as well as the ongoing attempt to make the proletariat take sides under the banner of its exploiters. We strongly say that weapons must be turned against the class enemy!
Dear comrades, we are living in the final and decaying stage of the capitalist system, the era of imperialism and socialist revolution. The objective conditions for the revolutionary turning point and the liberation of humanity from exploitation and oppression have ripened; what is missing is the subjective aspect. The victory of the class struggle in our countries necessarily passes through the construction of a solid Communist Party rooted in Marxist-Leninist principles, immune to the ideological influence of the bourgeoisie. Only a strong party can face the historical challenges that await us, fighting imperialism, reformism, and opportunism – scourges also widespread in the international communist movement. This is the only path to create the material and political conditions for the proletarian revolution, leading the working class to seize power and build socialism-communism.
In this perspective, strengthening cooperation among fraternal communist parties becomes essential. Collective analysis must translate into common strategies, coordinated actions, and united campaigns, in the spirit of proletarian internationalism. The efforts of the Communist Front of Italy are directed toward this goal, and -we are sure- so are those of the Communist Party of Sweden, both staunch founding members of the European Communist Action. In these years, we have appreciated the ideological consistency and militant commitment of your Party. We therefore wish you, dear comrades, to successfully hold your 39th Congress and in the utmost productive way, with the goal of strengthening our common revolutionary struggle for the emancipation of the proletariat and the construction of the socialist-communist society.
