The Umbria Federation of the Communist Front warmly welcomes the news of the success of the USB union’s timely mobilization to support and protect GLS Terni workers.
Faced with the arbitrary and unjustifiable withholding of up to 400€ from their paychecks, the workers decided to react unitedly, reaching out to their union representatives and immediately organizing a strike and picket in front of the company’s gates. GLS, after several hesitations, decided to comply with the workers’ legitimate claims, only for it to later be discovered – after careful checking of the payments – that almost half of the amounts related to travel reimbursements had been withheld.
Faced with the firm determination of the workers, who were already determined to remain outside the gates even after their first victory, the bosses’ arrogance had no choice but to capitulate and pay what was owed: when workers organize and fight unitedly for their rights, victory is possible, whether in logistics warehouses or any other workplace.
The Communist Front salutes the victory of the GLS Terni workers and the unyielding support of the USB trade unionists with a clenched fist, and reiterates its solidarity with workers in struggle throughout Italy.
