To the Presidium and the delegates of the 38th Congress of the Communist Party of Sweden

Dear comrades,

the Central Committee and the Political Bureau of the CC of the Communist Front (Italy), on behalf of all our Party’s members, send fraternal and militant greetings to the Presidium, the delegates and all SKP militants on the occasion of your 38th Congress.

Your Congress is held in the centenary of the entry of the Swedish Communists into the Comintern with the name of Swedish Communist Party, but also in a difficult moment of a new cycle of capitalist crisis, whose effects are accelerated and worsened by the pandemic.

The reasons for the revolutionary struggle of the communists are as current today, in the era of transition from monopolistic capitalism to socialism-communism, as they were 100 years ago. Decaying capitalism constantly shows its barbaric nature and historical limits. They are even more evident in the current pandemic situation in which capitalism proves that it is not able to meet the needs of humankind and became a threat to human life itself. On the one hand, capitalism has been unable to cope with the pandemic. Capitalist profit has been safeguarded by sacrificing the workers’ health and lives through the dismantling and the commodification of healthcare services.  Competition between monopolies and states is cynically escalating even with regard to vaccines. On the other hand,  capitalists take advantage of the pandemic to finalize a radical restructuring in order to restore the rate of profit and once again dump the burden of this crisis onto the workers’ by intensifying exploitation and repression through the anti-people and anti-worker policies carried out by bourgeois governments and the EU.

The basic contradictions of the capitalist mode of production exacerbate and become evident in the shape of an over-production and over-accumulation crisis which was already underway before the pandemic. The inter-imperialist competition is intensifying and threatening humankind with the risk of a new generalized imperialist war. The prolongation of the agony of dying capitalism can only lead to unsustainable and unacceptable suffering and impoverishment of the working class and the peoples.

The objective conditions for the socialist revolution have ripened, but the subjective conditions still need to be developed. It is necessary everywhere to build and strengthen vanguard communist parties which, based on Marxism-Leninism and in the spirit of proletarian internationalism, are able, under any conditions, to steer, organize and lead the working class to the fulfillment of its historical mission of gravedigger of the capitalist exploitation system.  One hundred years ago, in Sweden as in Italy and in many other countries of the world, communists understood that it was essential to definitely break up with reformism and opportunism in order to be able to fulfill their role of revolutionary vanguard on the path of the Great October Socialist Revolution with the essential centralized coordination by the Communist International.

We have to study and draw important lessons from the history of the International Communist Movement, from its successes and retreats, from the mutations of the old Communist Party of Sweden and the Italian Communist Party, as well as from the socialist construction in the 20th century and the counter-revolution. These experiences provide us with a valuable theoretical background to elaborate a revolutionary strategy in step with the times that opposes all old and new forms of opportunism, revisionism, reformism, social-patriotism and social-pacifism. Imperialist foreign policy and military aggression cannot be considered separately from the economic substance of imperialism. Therefore our struggle must be directed against any imperialist alliance and any type of capitalist management, be it “social democratic” or “liberal”, “neoliberal” or “neokeynesian”, rejecting any participation in “left”, “national-democratic”, “anti-neoliberal”, etc., coalitions which trick the working class into alien and fake goals in order to have it conformed with capitalism.

The communist parties’ task is the development of strong ties with the working class and the popular strata in order to link the struggles for immediate demands, against imperialist wars and alliances, such as the EU, to the goal of the revolutionary overthrow of capitalism and the bourgeois state, without intermediate stages of transition.

In Italy too we are fighting to construct a Bolshevik-type party as the vanguard of the working class, to accumulate forces for the revolution through ideological, political and organizational action that strengthens the ties with the working class, fosters its regrouping and awareness of the need for revolutionary change through the spread within it of scientific socialism and Marxist-Leninist ideology. This action must be carried out both nationally and internationally, in close coordination with the International Communist Movement, in order to strengthen its unity on consistently Marxist-Leninist and revolutionary positions.

We are following with interest the development and strengthening of the Communist Party of Sweden (SKP). Its firm fight against opportunism within the labor movement has similarities with our recent experience and we are drawing useful lessons from it. We are confident that your Congress will further consolidate your Party as the revolutionary vanguard of the Swedish working class and will contribute to the strengthening of authentically Marxist-Leninist positions within the International Communist Movement.

With the hope of strengthening the ties between our parties in the spirit of authentic proletarian internationalism, we wish you a fruitful Congress and success in our common struggle for Socialism-Communism.

Proletarians of all countries, unite!
