Dear comrades,
on behalf of the Central Committee and all militants of the Communist Front (Italy), we ask you to forward our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the train crash that happened in Tempi, Greece.
The Greek authorities rushed to attribute the causes of the accident to human error. However, over time the real responsibilities are emerging: failure to install safety systems, failure to maintain the railroad network, lack of personnel and poor infrastructure, as denounced by the railway labor unions.
This disaster is emblematic of the social butchering that has been perpetrated for decades by the EU institutions against the Greek proletariat, with the collaboration of the social-democrats of SYRIZA and PASOK. The Italian rail transport monopoly Trenitalia, which holds 100% of the shares of TrainOse, the Greek company that manages the network, has made large profits from the control and exploitation of the Greek railway network, once again showing the predatory nature of Italian imperialism, contrary to the harebrained theories of sovereigntists who depict Italy as a colony. Savage privatizations and the clearance sale of public assets to private investors, the submission of the safety of workers and users to the law of profit are the real reasons for the catastrophe, which this time has resulted in real carnage.
The Communist Front (Italy) expresses its solidarity with the comrades of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and with the Greek labor unions in their class opposition to the criminal anti-worker and anti-popular policies of all the bourgeois governments that have hitherto succeeded in Greece, from the PASOK and SYRIZA’s ones, up to that of Nea Demokratia currently in office, and is at their side in the struggle for the overthrow of capitalism and the establishment of socialism-communism.
