To the Presidium and the Delegates of the Workers Party of Ireland’s Congress (Ard Fheis)
On behalf of all the members of the Communist Front (Italy), we send our warm and fraternal greetings to the Presidium and the delegates of your congress (Ard Fheis).
The current international situation, in which the deepening of the crisis of capitalism in its final stage finds its bloodiest expression in the inter-imperialist clash in Ukraine and the massacre of the Palestinian people perpetrated in Gaza by the Zionist state in recent weeks, is the result of the fierce competition between imperialist blocs that are fighting by all means to enforce and expand their own positions in the division of resources, markets and communication routes.
The armed conflicts that are taking place or may erupt in different geographical areas threaten to drag the world into the abyss of a generalized war. Due to their class-based nature, they can only bring mourning, suffering and misery to the proletariat, without national distinction. For this reason, the communist parties, as the revolutionary vanguard of the working class, must not support any of the parties engaged in the imperialist war for a new division of the world. Attributing any progressive function to any of imperialist blocs means distorting the Leninist concept of imperialism. The Communists’ task is to fight for the defeat of their own national bourgeoisie in the imperialist war, as a precondition for the advancement of the struggle for the overthrow of capitalism.
It is in this spirit that our party, albeit within the limits of its concrete possibilities, is committed to opposing the plans of the Italian monopolist bourgeoisie to obtain its share in the sharing out of the spoils of war, its support for the Ukrainian fascist regime and for the hateful crimes of the Israeli ultra-reactionary supremacist Zionist regime against the Palestinian people.
At this difficult time, when divisions and contradictions of an ideological nature weaken the International Communist Movement, it is more important than ever to work for closer co-ordination of communist and workers’ parties in Europe and all over the world. Today as never before, proletarian internationalism must be put on our agenda. Today as never before, the slogan “Proletarians of the world unite!” is relevant.
We therefore wish you a fruitful congress work that allows you to strengthen your party and achieve ever greater success in the revolutionary struggle for the victory of the proletariat in Ireland and the world, for the affirmation of socialism-communism.
