To the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba
Dear comrades,
we have just learned of the grave loss of 32 Cuban combatants, who fell during the criminal attack carried out by the United States. We express our deepest condolences and ask that they be conveyed to the families of the fallen, whose sacrifice will remain a shining example of the internationalist commitment of Cuba and its people.
Regardless of our assessment of the Venezuelan government and its class character, we firmly condemn this bandit and criminal act, carried out by U.S. imperialism in violation of every norm of law and civilization. A country friendly to socialist Cuba has been struck, a country that for 67 years has heroically resisted the blockade imposed by the United States with the ambiguous complicity of the European Union.
In this dramatic context, Cuba and its indomitable socialist choice take on even greater importance as a point of reference and inspiration for the proletarians, the peoples, and all those who fight for liberation from the imperialist yoke in Latin America and throughout the world.
After this vile attack, the role of socialist Cuba acquires a new and greater importance for the future of the Latin American continent and of Cuba itself. We are confident, dear comrades, that Cuba, just as it has known how to resist until today, will also know in the future how to confront with honor and determination the attempts at oppression by imperialism.
We wish to assure you, dear comrades, that we will know how to share with you this historical responsibility, remaining firmly at your side until the final victory.
